Some Words about the Ministry

2007 will be a year full of excitement. Sportsmen's Outreach has expanded into several new areas in the past few years. We are continuing our fishing tournament shcedule, wild game banquets, and speaking schedule . This past year we conducted 30 Wild Game Banquets to an estimated crowd of 20,000 people, 800 recorded salvations.

Wild Game Banquets and Fishing Seminars

Each year Glenn speaks at 40 wild game banquets. These banquets are a great way to reach people. Glenn does a fishing or hunting seminar at most banquets. This is a great way to learn some of the latest techniques and see some of the products that the pro's use.

The meal consists of buffalo, alligator, elk, venison, fish and other items. You can order any kind of meat from US Food Service. I have the phone number in my How to Conduct a Banquet Outline.

After the meal Glenn shares some of his outdoor experiences along with his personal testimony of faith in Christ.

Most church have door prizes at the conclusion of the program.

Fishing Tournaments

Glenn got his beginning in fishing from Red's fishing lake when he was a young boy in Greenville, SC. You could pay Mr. Red $1.00 and catch all the catfish you could carry home. Glenn has been fishing full time since Jan. 1998. He currently competts on the FLW Tour ( Forrest L. Wood, founder of Ranger Boats) and the EverStart Trail. Both those trails total 10 tournaments along with 2 championships. You can keep up with Glenn by going to www.flwoutdoors.com.

Prison Ministry

Glenn has a passion for Prison ministry. Each year he does several speaking engagement with Prison Fellowship in their Operation Starting Line program. He also speaks at other prison facilities while he travels across the country. While at home he also conducts several programs at the local prison in Georgia .

Ministry Results from 2007

1. Conducted 30 Wild Game Banquets to an estimated crowd of 20,000 people, 800 recorded salvations.
2. Developed a ministry program entitled, “Meet the Pro’s Night”.  This is an evangelistic meeting designed to reach people in the community where we have our fishing tournaments.  I partner with a local church or association to host the event and then invite professional bass fishermen to share their testimonies.  We had over 2,500 people attend this year with 100 recorded salvations.  At FBC Bentonville, AR we had over 1,000 people in attendance with 80 salvations’s recorded.  They are planning on 2,500 people for 2008.
3. Coordinate the FOCAS (Fellowship of Christian Angler’s) Bible study.  This Bible study is conducted during the fishing tournament week to minister to fishermen and their families. We had record attendance again this year, with our last several meetings averaging over 100 people out of 400 participates in the tournaments.
4. Witnessing Tracts and Fishing Video’s.  This past year we were able to give out 7,000 of Sportsman's Outreach witnessing tracts and lots of fishing videos. We have several sporting goods stores who give out our tracts when someone makes a purchase at their store. Over 4,000 tracts we gave out at the FLW Championship in Hot Springs, AR in August. 
5. Sportsman's Outreach Dove Hunt & 3D Archery Tournament.  We had our second dove shoot this year and there were 100 people who attended.  From that number I estimated over 50 men were unchurched.  We had 80 at the 3D Archery Shoot.  There was 40 total salvations’, 30 recommitments; we gave out 75 camo Bibles and gospel tracts.
6. Participated in 12 professional bass tournaments on the FLW Tour and EverStart Trail.
7. Developed a new fishing and hunting DVD which includes the gospel presentation. This will be a great tool to give away and have at banquets.
8. Developed the Meet the Pro’s Night DVD.  This DVD included the gospel presentation, witnessing tract and the 800 prayer number to NAMB.  We have given out 6,000 of the DVD’s this year.

2008 Goals

1. Speak at 30 to 40 Sportsmen’s banquets
2. Coordinate dove shoots and 3-D tournaments
3. Lead 12 FOCAS bible studies
4. Facilitate 11 Meet The Pros Night events
5. Participate in 12 FLW Tournaments
6. Distribute tracts at every opportunity

How to be involved in Sportsmen's Outreach

How can you help us reach these goals?  We have a couple ways to involved in Sportsmen's Outreach.

1.  Email Prayer Team

Before each event I email the location for the engagement along with specific prayer requests for the event.  I know when I arrive at the event that I have prayer support.  Please send us your email address at sportsmens_outreach@compuserve.com if you would like to be added to the email prayer team.

2.  Financial Support Team

We are Mission Service Corps Volunteer with the North American Mission Board.  That means that we raise 100% of our financial support.  Sportsmen's Outreach is a 501-C3 non-profit organization.  All contributions are tax-deductible. 

3. Attend a banquet or prison event with Sportsmen's Outreach.
